Man killed after car hits tree

By Thursday 15 November 2012 Updated: 15/11 10:34

A MAN has died after his car left the road and hit a tree in Stretton on Dunsmore this morning (Thursday).

Paramedics were called to the A45 London Road near the village shortly before 4.50am to find a Honda Civic which had crashed.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "On arrival at the scene crews found a single car that had left the carriageway and had been in collision with a tree.

"A single occupant was found in the car. Unfortunately nothing could be done to save the man and he was confirmed deceased at the scene."

Police will not name the victim until he has been formally identified and all close relatives have been informed.

The accident forced police to close the A45, causing major hold ups during this morning's rush hour. The closure is expected to remain in place throughout the morning.
