THE SUN shone and people came out in their thousands for Rugby Spring Fair on Bank Holiday Monday (May 6)

The Rugby Dunsmore Rotary Club event took place at Oakfield Recreation Ground with entertainment for young and old alike.

The main arena saw everything from dance to dog agility displays, while there was also a fairground, and plenty of other fun and games, stalls, and lots to eat and drink.

Organiser, Rotarian Ian Bentlett, estimated up to 7,000 people attended the event which has become a highlight of the town's calendar over the last 35 years.

He said: "It was a fantastic day. I think it was probably the biggest crowd we've ever had.

"I think people wanted a good day out after being hemmed in by rain and cold for so long - and they certainly had one."

The organisers will be counting up the money raised over the next couple of weeks before choosing which local charities will benefit.
