AN ARTIST inspired by covers of romantic novels has painted Fifty Shades of Grey.

Leamington Hastings artist Melvyn Warren-Smith has already painted thousands of romantic novel covers and is now set to exhibit work inspired by last year's literary phenomenon.

His Fifty Shades of Paint show will take place over the Bank Holiday weekend from Saturday May 4 to Monday May 6.

EL James' Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy was a huge hit last year, selling over 40 million copies worldwide.

Artist Mr Warren-Smith has based past works on romantic novels penned by the likes of Rosamunde Pilcher, Catherine Cookson and Maeve Binchy.

In addition to his Fifty Shades themed pictures, he will be showing art inspired by the Warwickshire countryside and seabirds off the coast of the Canary Islands.

The exhibition takes place each day from 12pm to 6pm at his gallery in Leamington Hastings.
