PLANS for a new retail park next to Junction One have been unveiled.
Developer St Modwen wants to build a large anchor store with a series of smaller units as part of its huge plans for the former Alstom site on Leicester Road.
It has submitted a planning application for the 10,000 square metre site which includes space for 310 car parking spaces for land between Junction One retail park and Technology Drive.
Peter Rudd, senior development surveyor at St Modwen, said: "The next stage, which includes the retail element of Leicester Road, is a major part of the regeneration of this former industrial site, helping to transform the area.
"We are in discussion with a number of potential retail occupiers and hope to be able to make announcements shortly.
"Given the growing requirements of the local area, and existing adjacent retail offer, these proposals will further enhance the location."
Work has already started on the Edison Place residential development where 175 houses and apartments will be built and St Modwen hopes to add a further 40 apartments.
A Hungry Horse family restaurant will also be built on the site.
