A TALENT spotter has hailed teenage X Factor star Giles Potter as a 'born showman' ahead of the ITV show's Boot Camp stage this weekend.

Dutch Van Spall, co-director of Rugby-based Big Help Management has worked with 16-year-old over a number of years.

Last Sunday's show saw Giles go through to the Boot Camp stage of the hit ITV show despite a less than convincing performance on stage.

Should Giles be successful he will then bid for a place in the live shows.

Mr Van Spall, who judges several national singing competitions, put him through his paces in a rigorous practice session at the copany's Strawhouse Studios on Parkfield Road in Rugby.

“I've worked with Giles since about three years ago and he has always impressed me with his great performances, he's a born showman,” Dutch told the Observer.

“When we realised he wanted to take up the X Factor we sat down and chatted about it and got him ready by setting up our very own boot camp session.

“This proved a test for him but it was important he got that insight so he knew what he was expecting.”

And Mr Van Spall said he was not surprised of the 16-year-old's success so far on the show.

“Giles is a fantastic, very talented and an incredibly honest individual. He's always enthusiastic about working hard and has never once complained to me. His success does not surprise me because he has lots of potential.”

Millions saw Take That star and X factor judge Gary Barlow tell the teenager he needed to take the competition more seriously following a poor rendition of Jackie Wilson's Reet Petite on Sunday's show.

“I want you to go really far in this that's why we are being really tough on you,” Barlow told the teenager off stage.

“You have got to wake up, what most people have when they walk out there is 90 per cent talent and 10 per cent charisma.

“At the moment you have too much charisma, we need to get your vocals up to that level.”
