A LONG-SERVING member of the Friends of the Hospital of St Cross has died.

Tom Seekings, 82, joined the fund-raising group in 1986 and served on its management committee then as chairman, purchasing officer and in 2011 was elected vice president.

Heather Green, current chair of the Friends, said: "We shall miss Tom greatly; he was a faithful and active member of our committee and the sort of person you could rely on to get jobs done.

"He was a real friend of St. Cross and he made a great contribution both to the hospital and to our charity."

His funeral is set to take place on Tuesday, November 26 with a private cremation at Oakley Wood followed by a Service of Thanksgiving at 11am at St Andrew's Church in Rugby where he and his wife Dorothy were married.

Anyone who knew Tom who wants to remember him should, at his wish, make a donation to the Friends or the Warwickshire Air Ambulance.
