Matt Murray, Lee Hendrie, Michael Johnson and Darren Purse launch the Club Legends Cup (s)
FORMER players from Villa, Blues, Albion, Wolves, Coventry and Walsall will compete for the Club Legends Cup at the LG Arena next year.
The tournament in aid of Cure Leukaemia will also see fans get the chance to face the ex-pros with teams invited to apply for the chance to be the seventh and eighth sides competing.
The showpiece event on Saturday, July 14 - the day before the World Cup Final - will also include the Little Legends Cup which will be contested by six schools from the Midlands.
It is backed by FootieBugs, the Hall Green-based coaching school set up by former Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie.
Hendrie, who lives in Solihull, said: "The Midlands is a hotbed of football with great sets of fans and it promises to be a huge occasion.
"I have no doubt fans turning up to see the legends of the past will also be treated to seeing some legends of the future."
Speaking at the launch of the tournament at Marco Pierre White Steakhouse's in Birmingham city centre last week, former Wolves keeper Matt Murray added: "Fans always say they can do better so this is perfect opportunity for them to show us in person.
"It will be a unique and memorable tournament for everyone involved and hopefully we will raise a huge amount of money for a great charity in the process."
The full line ups will be named nearer the time, but tickets are already on sale from the LG Arena.
