AUSTRALIA rugby star Ben Alexander took time out of his training schedule to pay a surprise visit to Bilton Grange School last week.

The tight head prop, who appeared for Australia in their 20-13 defeat against England at Twickenham on Saturday, made the trip with good friend and Bilton Grange rugby coach Matt Pryor before talking to all of the school’s teams, from u9s to the 1st XV. He then took a walk around all of the pitches in order to take in the different aspects of the training taking place.

As well as engaging in some lively banter about the outcome of Saturday’s contest, Alexander answered numerous questions before encouraging the students to enjoy their rugby and listen to their coaches.

Mark Tovey, Director of Sport at Bilton Grange, said: “We were thrilled that Ben took the time out of his busy training in the run up to Saturday’s game to come and see us at Bilton Grange.

“The boys, together with their coaches and parents, were amazed to see such a big star of the rugby world and even happier to have the opportunity to chat to him and get his tips on playing great rugby.

“I’m really grateful to all who made this happen as I know the boys will remember and be inspired by this for many years to come.”
