RUGBY Cricket Club have announced that they will be one of 97 sports projects across England to receive a share of £5.5m of National Lottery funding from Sport England’s ‘Protected Playing Fields’ fund, which aims to improve and protect playing fields.
Club Chairman Colin Watson said: “We are delighted that Sport England has approved funding to allow us to further develop our grounds usage and very much appreciate their continued support.
“The £37,000 of improvements, along with the guarantee of protection for at least 25 years, means that we will be able to further develop provision for increased participation in cricket.
“In addition it will provide the opportunity for our junior teams to enjoy the experience of playing on grass wickets from a young age and provide new senior training facilities that can be enjoyed by our community for many years to come.”
