MEMBERS and friends of Lutterworth Golf Club gathered around the first tee on Sunday to watch incoming men's, ladies' and juniors' captains Hugh McClean, Elizabeth Toney and Andrew Skerratt - accompanied by president Peter Gemmell - hit the first drives of their captain's year down the first fairway in time honoured tradition.
The drive-in was followed by drinks and hot food in the clubhouse. The captains' charities to benefit this year from their fund-raising activities are the Myton Hospice and Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance.
Lutterworth Golf Club is currently working with the Leicestershire and Rutland County Golf Partnership development officer, Jade Boggust, to 'grow the game' and has already successfully run a series of 'Get into Golf' lessons for beginners and improvers.
Look out for new courses starting in the new year. With lower winter green fees, great golf and food deals, there is no better time to play the course. Contact the club secretary or professional for details on .
