A FOURTH man involved in the failed bank robbery at NatWest in Lutterworth has been jailed.
Leroy Williams was sentenced to 15 years after being found guilty of attempted robbery, possession of a firearm and possession of an imitation firearm following a nine day trial.
The 35-year-old, of Hallam Crescent East in Leicester, was one of two members of the gang who burst into the branch on High Street on January 24 brandishing guns, but left empty-handed.
We reported in September how Richard Christopher, 33, of Trigo Close in Leicester, was sentenced to 15 years; and Robert Allen, 34 of Hall Farm Crescent in Broughton Astley, and Bryn Parker, 31, of The Fairway in Leicester, to 11 years and six months each for their part in the robbery.
All four men denied the offence during interviews, but Allen and Parker eventually changed their pleas to guilty.
Detective Inspector Shaun Orton said: "All four men have now been given significant prison sentences, but had they not been arrested I’m sure this gang would have gone on to offend again employing a similar level of incompetency and violence."
