FIRE broke out at a Bilton pub less than an hour into 2014 and just 15 minutes after the end of a firefighters' strike.
Revellers celebrating the new year at the George Inn were evacuated when an electrical fire started at around 12.45am.
Two fire crews attended and extinguished the blaze after several calls from customers.
Customer George Bond tweeted: "Fire in the George pub in Bilton, great start to the new year lads."
