HOLOCAUST Memorial Day will be commemorated by an exhibition and a school study day at Rugby Art Gallery and Museum.
The exhibition, which explores the life of Anne Frank during the Second World War, features paintings by Rugby-based artist Iris Anne Berger.
They were inspired by Iris' response to Anne Frank's Diary and a visit to Anne Frank House in Amsterdam.
She said: "I'm aware of the inhumanity that happens in the world and feel people in each generation should be made aware of it, to prevent suffering in the future."
During the exhibition, an activity area at the Gallery will allow visitors to explore the themes raised in more depth.
Meanwhile, secondary school pupils will take part in a study day on Monday, the day when the world remembers the millions killed in the Holocaust and subsequent genocides in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
The study day includes workshops where students can explore the themes of discrimination, refugees and journeys, and the chance to create suitcases comprising drawings, text and images linked to the themes.
Jessica Hartshorn, Rugby Art Gallery and Museum's learning and outreach officer, said: "The study day gives students the chance to learn more about the Holocaust and the themes explored in the Anne Frank exhibition.
"Holocaust Memorial Day not only encourages us to remember the past, but also to learn the lessons of the past to create a better future."
The Anne Frank exhibition opens on Saturday and runs until March 29.
