Republica and Space (s)

THERE will be a double dose of 90's nostalgia when Space and Republica arrive at The Kasbah as part of their joint 20-year anniversary tour.

Their celebratory six date showcase includes a performance at the Hillfields nightspot on Saturday, March 22 for what is their only show in the Midlands.

Republica were launched into the mainstream back in 1996 with the release of their self-titled album before they cemented their success with signature single Ready to go, which peaked at number 1.

The female fronted band called it quits in 2001 but have since reunited to release a 2010 remix of Ready to go as well as a new seven track EP titled Christiana Obey which was released in April last year.

Electronic indie rockers Space kicked off their career back in 1994 with UK platinum album Spiders and enjoyed major hits including Female of the Species.

They reunited in 2011, two years after the death of original drummer Andy Parle, and the current line-up, which includes original members Tommy Scott and Franny Griffiths as well as new members Phil Hartley, Ryan Clarke and Allan Jones, will release a new album Attack of the 50ft Mutant Kebab during the tour.

Thanos Staikos, promotions manager at the Kasbah, said: "The double headliner show promises to be a huge hit. Both bands were wildly successful in the 90s and we are thrilled that the Kasbah will be able to mark their 20-year anniversary with them."
