Hi: 28° Lo:17°
HEADLINE acts have been confirmed for the town's biggest music festival yet.
Daventry-based punk rockers Dead Frequency will top the bill of the newly-expanded Rugby Music Festival with support from Rugby's White Men Can't Funk.
Dead Frequency play a mixture of high-energy pop/punk and glam-influenced rock, citing their influences as ranging from Green Day to Van Halen, with “a bit of The Darkness thrown in for good measure”.
White Men Can’t Funk are playing for the third year running and promise they are “out to have a good time, every time”. Their set last year was cut short because the festival overran its licenced hours.
Festival organiser David Head said: "We are thrilled Dead Frequency are going to headline this year's event.
“We caught them recently at The Vault and that was the clincher; they are really talented with a great stage presence.
“The whole event is designed to ramp up during the day and Dead Frequency will give us a fitting finale – we already know they are great crowd pleasers."
Promising a few surprises in store, guitarist Andy Walker of last year's headline act White Men Can't Funk said: “We're really looking forward to finishing what we started last year and bringing the party to RMF once again.”
The two bands will complete what is expected to be Rugby’s biggest ever free live music event, featuring 24 acts over two stages at Whitehall Recreation Ground on August 9.
Organisers have firmed up most of the bookings for the festival and will be making further announcements in the coming weeks.
RMF is free of charge to enter and no tickets are needed. A bucket collection and programme sales will take place to support several charities. Visit rugbymusicfestival.org.uk to find out more.
