DIY stores have confirmed their new Rugby homes with the approval of a new retail park.

Homebase and Wickes will anchor a new £5.5 million scheme in Leicester Road, alongside Pets at Home and Benson for Beds.

The development – just off Technology Drive between Junction One Retail Park and Warwickshire College – was granted provisional planning approval by Rugby Borough Council.

Homebase, Wickes and Pets at Home recently left the redeveloping Elliott's Field Retail Park as it moves towards a more fashion-led selection of shops.

The development will consist of non-food retail space and have 270 car parking spaces. It forms part of a huge swathe of land off Leicester Road where hundreds of homes are being built.

Work on the development, designed by Stephen George & Partners, has started on site. No finish date has been announced.
