A MAN who held up a bookies claiming he was armed with a gun has been jailed for three years.
Scott Pryde was found guilty of robbery at Warwick Crown Court after raiding the Coral bookmakers shop on Hillmorton Road on April 18 2011.
He struck at the shop in the morning and claimed he had a gun with him before making off on foot with cash.
CCTV cameras captured the robbery, and 35-year-old Pryde was quickly identified and arrested.
Det Insp Colin Jones of Warwickshire Police said: "We are pleased with this conviction and hope to send a message to all those that seek to commit serious offences such as this, that they run the risk of substantial custodial sentences.
"Warwickshire Police prioritises all offences that cause harm to communities and will rigorously pursue offenders in circumstances such as these.
"I would like to thank the witnesses involved in this case for their support in seeing this offender sent to prison."
