Man tries to rob delivery driver

A ROBBER tried to force a female pizza delivery driver to hand over her takings.

The woman managed to escape after she was accosted in Lower Hillmorton Road on Sunday June 30.

Just after 8pm, she pulled over her silver Honda Jazz at the junction between Gibson Drive and Lower Hillmorton Road to check her phone.

A man pulled up behind her and got out of a green vehicle, believed to be an old style Mercedes.

He told her to get out of her car, and demanded her money. When she refused, he grabbed her arm and punched her twice in the chest. She managed to get back into her car and drive away.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.

The man is described as being in his 30s, 5ft11in-6ft tall, with a medium build, a beer belly, scruffy brown hair over his ears, and a dark brown goatee beard. He was wearing a blue and white horizontal striped polo t-shirt and dark coloured cord trousers.
