A MAN who died when he was hit by a train close to Rugby station was from London.
British Transport Police said the 43-year-old was from the Thorton area of the capital.
He was hit at 6.30am last Friday near to Clifton Road bridge by a Virgin Train travelling at 125mph.
It is not known whether he jumped from the bridge or was standing on the track, but police are not treating the death as suspicious.
A spokesman said: “The man’s family have been informed and officers are now working to compile a file for the coroner.”
The train involved was the first London to Liverpool train of the day. After the collision, the train came to a halt to the west of Rugby station.
Train services were cancelled, delayed or revised at short notice as a result of the incident. Normal services were resumed by mid-morning.
