Hi: 12° Lo:5° 7 day
IT appears to have another good year for A level results in Rugby.

At Lawrence Sheriff the number of students getting A* to B grades was down slightly to 70 per cent from 73 per cent.
The overall pass rate remained at 100 per cent.

One pupil even got an five A* grades.
Warwickshire College students bettered last year’s overall pass rate which was 98.3 per cent - three per cent higher than last year. The A* to C pass rate also improved to 71.3 per cent.
Princethorpe College saw its the percentage of A* and A grades rise slightly from 25 per cent last year to 30 per cent of the 81 who sat exams - an overwhelming majority of whom have gained entry into the universities of their choice, said headmaster Ed Hester.
The top performer was Rhiannon Edwards with four A*s and an A grade plus an A* in her extended project.
Mr Hester said "These results just pip last year’s record with more students achieving the very highest grades.
"Whilst we are of course delighted with their academic achievements, these pupils have many other fine qualities: kindness, respect and a strong sense of right and wrong which will be as important for them - if not more - as they move on to the next phase of their education.
"This is a year group which has worked exceptionally hard and I am delighted they have been rewarded for their outstanding efforts and wish them well for the future."
Nationally, 26.3 of exam entries were given A or A* grades - a slight fall on 2012's figure of 26.6 per cent while the overall pass rate rose marginally to 98.1 per cent. It has been rising for about 30 years.
Top performers at Lawrence Sheriff were Rob Fletcher and James Roberts who each got five A* grades, Alex Eperon for four A*, while Faiz Ahmed, Robert Chan and James Saunders for three.
Alex Eperon, Tom Holker and Josh Newman have got places at Oxford University with a number of other students accepted for courses in medicine and dentistry.
Head teacher Dr Peter Kent said: "I would like to congratulate everyone on yet another set of first class results.
"This outstanding performance points to a huge amount of hard work on the part of both students and staff. Since students join our sixth form from across Rugby, these results represent an outstanding achievement that the whole town can be proud of."
Of Rugby's School bes performers, 11 live locally including Michael Varley, from Monks Kirby, who got the equivalent of four A* grades and will study physics at Oxford where he will be joined by Eleanor Hall, from Leamington Spa, whose three A* grades and one A grade in Chemistry, French, German and Maths secured her place study languages.
