Mark Lawrence (s)
A BIG guy with a big heart - that is how Hillmorton Veterans’ player Mark Lawrence was described following his sudden death on Sunday.
The 45-year-old collapsed 20 minutes into his team’s game against Drayton Grange at the GEC Ground on Hillmorton Road.
Desperate attempts were made by the referee to revive Mr Lawrence and he was taken to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A post mortem has yet to reveal the cause of death.
The postman lived on Aqua Place, was married to Joanne and had three children. He had lived in Hillmorton all his life and had played for the Veterans’ team for five years.
Teammate Richard Gosling told us: “He was an incredibly loving family man. This has come as such as huge shock.
“He was 6ft 4in and was a true gentle giant, a big guy with a big heart.”
