MARK Pawsey has spoken of his delight at eye patients in Rugby being able to use the AMD Unit at St Cross.
The MP visited the unit last week when he met hospital staff including the eye clinic liaison officer and representatives from the National Institute of Blind People.
"I visited the AMD Unit when it first opened several years ago and began campaigning for it to be accessible for Rugby residents not long after my visit, once I learned some local people were not able to use it," he told us.
"I was delighted when the local Clinical Commissioning Group announced at the end of last year Rugby residents would soon be using the facility and I know from the many letters, emails and telephone calls I have received that local people are delighted also.
"From my visit I know they will receive excellent support from our local eye clinic liaison officers and I am proud of the work they are doing for my constituents.
"It must be incredibly difficult for someone to learn that they are losing their sight and the role that Eye Clinic Liaison Officers play in supporting people cannot be underestimated.
