West End comes to Avon Valley

AVON Valley School pupils will bring the glamour of the West End to town with their latest production of an Andrew Lloyd-Webber hit.

The Phantom of the Opera, Avon Valley's first whole-school production in two years, opens for a five night run at the Newbold school on Tuesday, May 6.

And director Elisa Wheatley has this week heaped praise on her cast.

"The demands on our students in this production have been very high, but they have worked extremely hard, developed so much as individuals and performers and the results will speak for themselves.

“We believe in giving our students a professional experience on every level, and every time they rise to the challenge.

“The performing arts does so much to instill confidence in our youngsters and as they grow into adults. The experience of this process is invaluable."

In 2012, the school's production of Les Miserables astounded audiences with the maturity and talent of its young performers – all students aged between 11 and 15.

The musical runs each evening up to and including Saturday, May 10 with performances will start at 7pm Tuesday to Friday and at 6pm on Saturday.
