ALBUM REVIEW: Kiss Me Once, Kylie Minogue

CLASSIC Kylie is the only way to describe the Aussie pop princess' latest album.

The 12th of a music career that has spanned an amazing 26 years offers little we haven't already heard from Kylie, but on the contrary nothing you wouldn't want from one of the industry's most popular, and successful, figures.

She follows a simple formula with bouncy pop tunes right from the off: track one Into The Blue (the first single) setting the standard high right through to the aptly title Beautiful (duet with Enrique Inglesias) before signing off with the assuring lyrics 'You don't have to worry...you're going to be Fine' in the last song of the album.

In the sleeve notes Kylie offers her love and thanks to everyone who played a part in making the 39-minute, 11-track album, which features the writing and producing talents of man-of-the-moment Pharrell Williams (I Was Gonna Cancel) and the first since she signed to Jay Z's Roc Nation Management.

And she is right to thank them because, despite not really containing a pop anthem to match the likes of Spinning Around, this is her best offering since that reinvention in 2000 as a modern day version of her early self.

Kiss Me Once was released on Monday on Parlophone Records.
