FOUR men who played various roles in operations to use houses in Rugby and Coventry to produce cannabis with a combined street value of £75,000 have been sentenced by a judge at Birmingham Crown Court to almost four years in prison.
Stephen Cleaver, 43, of Railway Terrace, Rugby, was jailed for three years after pleading guilty during an earlier at Warwick Crown Court to charges of burglary and cultivating cannabis.
John Edgar, 44, of William Street in the town, who had pleaded guilty to conspiring to supply cannabis, was sentenced to eight months in prison suspended for two years and ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work.
Jasvir Singh, 37, of Bawnmore Road in Bilton, and Anthony Harte, 40, of Mile Lane in Coventry, were both given 12-month community sentences and ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid work each.
They had both pleaded guilty to separate charges of permitting premises to be used for the cultivation of cannabis.
The court heard how police arrested the men between 2011 and 2012 following raids at a flat above a shop on Railway Terrace and a home on William Street as well as a property on Gunton Avenue, Coventry while evidence also suggested cannabis had been grown in a flat where Edgar had been seen over former city nightclub Bloc.
