THE Rugby Spring Fair made a triumphant return to its traditional home of Whitehall Recreation Ground on Bank Holiday Monday.

An estimated 8,000 people flocked to the Rec for a day of fairground rides, performances and family fun under blue skies.

Co-organiser Ian Bentlett of Rugby Dunsmore Rotary Club said the money raised for charity would likely match the figure raised last year, which was just over £13,500.

“It was great to get back to Whitehall Rec, people seem to like it there," he told us.

“It's lovely to see the people of Rugby supporting such an event.”

Mr Bentlett said that money raised would be split between various local charities such as last year's beneficiaries Hill Street Youth and Community Centre, the Young Carers and the local Alzheimer's Society.

“It's that sort of deserving need that we tend to support,” he said.

“We help support the people that help us perform.”
