U18 Coventry Minor Cup Final
Rugby Town Juniors 2-0 Bedworth United
TWO goals, one in the first five minutes, and one in the last minute enabled Town to win the Knockout cup at Bedworth’s Oval ground last Friday night.
On a hard bobbly pitch it was always going to be challenge to play football on with Bedworth relying on the long ball and nearly breaking through on a number of occasions.
But it was Town who took the lead with a McGahey free kick from just outside the area the keeper fumbling the ball over the line.
The game petered out somewhat with not a great deal of excitement for the watching 200 people and the second half was much the same. Bedworth knew that at 1-0 they still had a chance and went close on a couple of occasions.
Everyone was put out of their misery when in the last minute when Thompson slid in to secure the win and the cup.
