INTERNATIONALLY renowned orchestras and musicians will be stopping off at Warwick Arts Centre this autumn.
The Russian State Philharmonic Orchestra marks the beginning of the Concert series on October 7 with a programme of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov, before Sir Mark Elder and the Hallé return on November 8, while Armonico Consort bring some festive joy with Handel’s Messiah on December 14.
Emma Johnson, widely regarded as Britain’s favourite clarinettist, ushers in the New Year with the Royal Northern Sinfonia on January 24, and young Anglo-Russian violinist Alexander Sitkovetsky joins the Saint Petersburg Symphony Orchestra for
Tchaikovsky’s lyrical Violin Concerto on February 18.
The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra is accompanied by violinist Baiba Skride on May 8 for their last concert here with Andris Nelsons at the helm before he leaves for Boston.
The Warsaw Philharmonic arrives on May 15 to introduce their energetic new Music Director Jacek Kaspszyk to Warwick Arts Centre. As a team, Kaspszyk and the Warsaw Philharmonic are already winning rave reviews in their native
Poland, and their current tour offers a first chance to see them in Warsaw’s twinned city of Coventry.
To celebrate the University of Warwick’s 50th Anniversary in 2015, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performs a programme of American music from Gershwin, Copland and Bernstein on May 21. For this concert they are joined by the
University of Warwick Symphony Orchestra as Warwick Arts Centre.
As ever, there’s also a programme of more intimate chamber concerts.
The Coull Quartet, Artists in Residence at the University of Warwick, turn 40 this year, celebrating with four chamber concerts. The English Piano Trio also return with a triple-bill of Schubert, while Warwick Arts Centre continues to bring audiences the best
opera live from New York in the cinema with their series of Met Opera Live screenings.
