RUGBY & East Warwickshire HC continued their climb up the Midlands League Premier Division after securing their third successive win of the season at home to Harborne.

The hosts moved up to third in the table following Saturday’s 4-2 victory as their fine start to the season continued.

Saturday started off as a damp and cold morning however the potential of another exciting game of hockey beckoned with the sun coming out and setting the scene for an exciting game.

Rugby were hoping to carry on with their fine form displayed so far this season having narrowly defeat Khalsa the previous weekend and were up against a Harborne side who had not won a game this season.

The game started at a slow pace with both teams attempting to find each other out.

Harborne created many chances to which they could not capitalise while Rugby also had not been able to find the cutting edge, which had made them so successful in the previous matches.

A tense first half ended goalless but the game came to life in the second period.

The hosts came out in the second half on fire and took the lead through Szymon Oszyjczyk who dispatched a penalty to take his tally for the season to 11.

Full of confidence Rugby piled on more pressure and ended up scoring three further goals thanks to a Chris Graham hat-trick.

Up next for Rugby is a trip to Hampton-in-Arden this Saturday.
