MORE funding to get shoppers back into the high street has been handed to town traders.
A £100,000 pot of cash has been earmarked by Warwickshire County Council as part of Operation Footfall which was launched in February to fund projects which encourage people to shop and eat in town centres.
Rugby will get £8,000 to fund a training programme for independent retailers called How To Create Your Own Footfall. It is being run though Rugby First and will help them promote their businesses to new and existing customers.
Council deputy leader Coun Alan Cockburn said: “The project has been a county-wide success and we have been astounded at the positive response of the business groups and their creative proposals.
“As well as supporting many thousands of jobs, town centres are also important hubs for our communities and we will do what we can to support their continued viability.
“We look forward to seeing even more town centre successes when these new schemes come to fruition.”
