A SCOUT troop has brought life back to a dilapidated sports pavilion which had become a magnet for anti-social behaviour.
The pavilion on Cornwallis Road had been repeatedly targeted by vandals and was in desperate need of repair.
And when Bilton Scouts contacted the council in search of a new headquarters it was suggested a the perfect solution.
The group had been meeting at Cawston Grange school, but have now been able to move back into the heart of the community.
Coun Dr Mark Williams, Rugby Borough Council's sustainable development spokesman, said: "We were trying to work out what to do with the pavilion, which was becoming a problem for us, when the scouts approached us to ask if we had any unused buildings.
"And because the pavilion had only recently been badly damaged, we were able to work with our insurers to refurbish the hut to meet the scouts' needs, rather than reinstate everything how it was.
"It has been great to work with the community to bring an underused asset back into use.”
