Reverend Jill Cheverton with the book which tells of her ten years in Binley Woods (s)
VILLAGERS have said goodbye their vicar after ten years.
Reverend Jill Cheverton retired from The Church in Binley Woods on July 31.
Her congregation presented her with a This Is Your Life book featuring stories about life in the village during her time before being taken on a mystery tour in a Harrington’s vintage coach around many of Warwickshire’s beautiful villages.
Stories included when the nativity at the Roseycombe pub nearly went up in smoke, her antics at the annual holiday club and her school assemblies.
Jill admitted to having never heard of Binley Woods before she arrived from a church in Leeds after previously serving as a nurse in the RAF and as a health visitor for the NHS.
She will be moving to Selby in North Yorkshire where she plans to continue working with adults with learning difficulties and the disadvantaged.
"It has been a blessing to be here and an amazing privilege to receive the trust of so many people," she said,
Shân Dobinson on behalf of the Church in Binley Woods added: "She will be missed by people right across the village community because God used her to touch so many lives and in so many wonderful ways."
