Weapons found, hit and run, driver dead

WEAPONS and drugs have been seized in a series of house raids.

Two air weapons were found at Grizedale in Brownsover, while three Samurai swords were seized at Whernside in Brownsover along with a quantity of cannabis.

Drugs paraphernalia was discovered at properties in Cambridge Street and Plowman Street.

The raids happened last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

One man and two women are now under investigation.

The warrants were carried out under Operation X, an ongoing Warwickshire Police campaign aimed at protecting communities in Rugby, Nuneaton and Leamington where a disproportionate amount of crime happens.

POLICE are asking for help in identifying a hit-and-run driver who injured a pedestrian.

A man was hit on a crossing near Rounds Gardens by a silver vehicle which went through a red light at around 6.30pm on Friday. The vehicle then drove off.

The pedestrian went to hospital with a bruised knee.

Witnesses can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on .

A DRIVER was found dead in his car following a collision in Brownsover.

The crash happened on Hollowell Way at around 11.05am on Friday.

Police said the man - who has not been identified - had what they described as a medical episode which caused his death and the subsequent collision.
