NEWBOLD 2nds brought the curtain down on their season with a 46-run home victory against Coverteam on Saturday.
Newbold fell into early trouble at 39-4 having chosen to bat first against an experienced opening attack of Mukthar Mohammad and Ifikhab-ul-Islam.
Skipper Hugh Evans played the anchor role well though and together with ever improving all-rounder Paul Higham (31), put on a stand of 50 to stabilise matters.
Chris Waddoups came in and added an elegant 32no which helped push the final total to 151-7.
Wickets fell at regular intervals when the visitors took to the crease with some excellent fielding backing up all of the bowlers throughout the innings.
Coverteam were dismissed for 105 with all five bowlers - Ashley Clarke, Paul Higham, Dave Cheney, Sam Letts and Tim Radburn - taking wickets.
