X FACTOR band Kingsland Road struggled for votes throughout their time on the show, figures released this week have revealed.

Cawston’s Connor Conaboy and his band mates started fairly well with 3.7 per cent of the vote on the first Saturday and 4.1 per cent on the Sunday, putting them effectively mid table of the 12 acts.

But it started to fall from there with the judges saving them in week two after they recorded less public votes than Shelley Smith who was voted off, not even managing two per cent on the Sunday.

They enjoyed a brief resurgence in week three with more than six per cent on both nights keeping them out of the bottom two.

But in week four they were sent home after being in the sing off against Tamera ironically after recording their second highest public vote share of 5.2 per cent. Tamera got 4.7 per cent of the vote, but was saved by the judges.

Eventual winner Sam Bailey and second placed Nicholas McDonald topped the voting figures throughout the 12-week series with Sam finishing with 53 per cent of the votes in the final compared to Nicholas’ 36 per cent. Third placed Luke Friend polled 10.3 per cent.

Kingsland Road quickly had over 100,000 followers on Twitter but that did not turn into votes.

Speaking to us back in November when they were sent home, Vicki Street, the mum of former Bilton School pupil Connor - whose real name is Joe - told us: “It’s how many times people pick up the phone and we knew we had a young fan base who probably wouldn’t be able to vote multiple times.”
